Casa Abu Font

This is a publication where a singular work gets maximum exposure. This series will focus on a project explained by his author as a personal conference on your Tablet. The process is explained, the project detailed and the finished work is shown as never before…

One of the most unknown architectural scenarios in this global world is Paraguay, a small country locked between Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia where architecture is still seen as something peculiar. Here, the earth tones are omnipresent and brick is generally accepted as the most common and cheapest construction material we can find, used both in vernacular construction and sophisticated architecture.

The monograph is about Casa Abu Font by the Paraguayan architect Solano Benitez and his personal research on brick as building material to modern architecture. Influenced by Le Corbusier and Brazilian Modernism, Solano Benitez works to redefine Low Tech as a radical way to use cheap brick with contemporary structures to create confortable environments, fully understanding the complexities of the material and experimenting extreme techniques to use it as technological building material.
